Who Are We

In 2000, only around 1 in 150 children had Autism, but this number has increased significantly in the last 2 decades, naming it one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the US. It is more common that childhood cancer, AIDS, and diabetes combined.

Our team consists of 4 Juniors who attend Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, California. We all share a similar vision, where everyone has an equal opportunity to live a long and happy life. We plan to offer this opportunity by increasing Autism awareness, research, and therapy and by taking steps to make a difference in the world, in all possible fronts.

Inspiration

When a child is diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), the parent must surround themselves with the tools and resources to raise their kid in a different environment. They often feel isolated as they spend so much time tending to their youngster. A review of studies conducted by Longdom uncovered that parents of a child with ASD had decreased parenting efficacy, increased parenting stress, and an increase in mental / physical health problems in comparison to parents’ children with other developmental disorders in high income countries. Parents/caregivers must now place their primary focus on helping their child with ASD, which may put stress on their marriage, other children, work, finances, and personal relationships and responsibilities. They will also have to pay for constant medical attention to make sure the situation doesn’t worsen.

Our mission not only consists of educating the public about this issue, but to assist the children and adults that portray these symptoms. Although they are considered different, Pyaar Kee Power believes they should be treated the same. They may think the same as us, just using a different approach.
